Wrong or Missing DNS Entries in the MacTCP
- Open FreePPP Setup. If you do not know where it is on the Main Menu click
on File, Find, and type FreePPP Setup in the box provided.
- Beside Connect to: verify the account being used is the correct account
(ie. The one for your service)
- Click on the General tab. If the four tabs are not visible, click the
small blue triangle to the left of Using.
- Click Open MacTCP button on the bottom left.
- Make sure the FreePPP icon is highlighted and click the More button.
- In the upper right corner Obtain address should be set to Server.
- Along the top, Class should be set to C
- In the bottom right, under Domain, all three boxes should contain the
proper domain name (cinet.net), and the three boxes under IP Address
should contain the Primary IP # (208.166.208.73) and Secondary IP #
(208.166.208.77).
- Click OK then Special, Restart from the Main Menu.
- Try connecting again. If it still doesn't work proceed to the next step.
- Quit out of Netscape if it is running.
- Double click the Mac HD, Preferences folder, Netscape folder and drag
the Cache folder to the Trash. Select Special, Empty Trash from the Main
Menu.
- Restart Netscape. If it doesn't work proceed to the next step.
- Double click on the Mac HD, System folder, and drag MacTCP DNR to the
Trash.
- Double click the Preferences folder and drag the Finder Preferences to
the Trash. Select Special, Empty Trash, then Special, Restart from the
Main Menu.
- Try again.
