"Internet Explorer caused a General Protection Fault in GDI.exe"
Suggested fixes:
In Control Panel open the System icon.
Select the Performance tab and click the Graphics button.
Lower the "Hardware acceleration" to the second dash on the left (Basic Accelerator Functions).
Click on Ok. Restart and retry.
In Control Panel open the Internet icon. Select the Security tab.
Disable the first 3 options under the Active Content (This will not allow you to take advantage of sites using ActiveX if you do this.)
Click Ok, restart and retry.
Open the win.ini file. Do this by Clicking on <Start><Find><Files or Folders> and type "win.ini" in the Named field.
Check the "load=" and the "run=" lines for programs that get loaded up on Start Up.
If there is anything in these lines type "REM" or a ";" at the beginning of the line.
This will prevent those programs from loading. Save the file and reboot.
If it occurred while browsing the web using Netscape, delete the Netscape.hst files from the following paths:
C:\Program Files\netscape\Netscape.hst
C:\Program Files\netscape\Programs\Netscape.hst
If none of the above work run
SCANDISK
and
DEFRAG
