"RAS 650 Error" when dialing.
Summary:
Error occurs when dialing out.
Resolution:
Can be caused by a damaged or missing telephon.ini file.
Find the file and rename it.
Click on <Start><Find><Files or Folders> and type in telephon.ini in the "Named" field.
Once the file is renamed click on <Start><Run> and type tapiini.exe in the "Open" field and click "OK".
Reboot.
Can also be caused if the modem isn't waiting long enough to handshake.
Try typing 4 commas after the phone number to be dialed.
Double click on the "My Computer" icon.
Double click on the "Dial-Up Networking icon.
Right mouse button click on the "CiNet" icon, and select "Properties".
Under the "General" tab insert 4 commas after the phone number, and click on "OK".
Can also occur with 56k modems.
Try
disabling the 56k capability
of the modem.
